Why Verification Matters

Opinyze connects businesses and researchers with real opinions from real people. Identity verification is what makes that possible. By verifying users, we ensure that survey and poll responses come from genuine individuals, not bots or duplicate accounts. This protects the quality of every dataset on the platform.

Verification also helps prevent fraud, which means the credits you earn are backed by trustworthy data that organizations are willing to pay for.

The NIN Verification Process

Opinyze uses Nigeria's National Identification Number (NIN) to verify your identity. You can use either your standard NIN (11-digit number) or a vNIN (virtual NIN). Here's how it works:

1. During onboarding (or later from your account settings), navigate to the verification step.
2. Choose NIN or vNIN and enter your number.
3. Confirm your details. We'll match the name and date of birth from your NIN record against what you provided during onboarding.
4. Verification completes instantly if your details match. If there's a mismatch, you'll see a clear message explaining what didn't match so you can correct it.

The verification check happens through a secure third-party API. Your NIN is encrypted and never stored in plain text.

What Information Is Verified

During verification, we confirm:

• Full name - Must match your NIN record
• Date of birth - Must match your NIN record
• NIN validity - The number itself must be a valid, active NIN

We do not access or store your biometrics, address history, or any other data beyond what's needed for identity confirmation.

What Verification Unlocks

Verification is the gateway to full platform participation. Without it, you can explore and create surveys, but you won't be able to take surveys, vote, or earn.
